H13 is C-Cr-Mo-Si-V steel, which belongs to hot work die/mold steel. H13 model is 4Cr5MoSiV1, unified code T20502.
 For H13 steel, annealing in a vacuum furnace has the following advantages over annealing in air furnace and atmosphere furnace:
 1. Vacuum annealing is easier to achieve less, no oxidation, no decarburization than controllable atmosphere. Because measuring and controlling stress is easier than measuring and controlling carbon potential.
 2. Vacuum annealing can realize the adjustment of temperature rise and cooling rate, which is good for quality control and improving efficiency.
 3. Except for temperature measurement, display and control, vacuum annealing furnace can be based on the quality of the module, the complexity of the shape to increase the number of auxiliary thermocouples to understand the various parts of the module temperature changes in the actual situation, which can achieve comprehensive control.
 4. Vacuum annealing can be easily and accurately implemented on the module isothermal annealing. For molds heat treatment in the muffle furnace and normal annealing furnace, the heat capacity of the furnace body is too large to rapidly cool down at the required speed. However, vacuum annealing furnace because of its insulation screen structure and equipped with fan, heat exchanger and other parts, so the heat capacity is small and the cooling capacity is strong.

It is concluded that H13 steel is better annealed in vacuum. After the vacuum isothermal annealing, the workpiece structure is uniform, with short period, high efficiency and bright surface. According to the chosen transition temperature, the resulting structure has different thicknesses and different hardness depending on the transformation temperature.
