A method for analyzing the pumping performance of helical slot viscous vacuum pump with arbitrary groove cross-section is presented. Numerical calculations are performed on triangular and semicircular and rectangular grooves. Flow in the groove area is Boon and Tal's "narrow groove theory" that connects flows in the ridge area to gain pumping performance. If the optimal spiral Angle is selected, the zero flow performance of the three groove shapes is almost the same.
