Vacuum Metalizing

Vacuum Metalizing is the physical vapor deposition (PVD), which is the purpose of the coating on the surface of the target material under Vacuum. The earliest use of optics lens, such as the telescope mirror navigation, then as the technology improved, extends to the record, disk, CD, mobile phone shell, mechanical cutting tool materials such as decorative coating, material surface modification, etc.

Material
Almost all metals, alloys, and ceramic materials.
Natural materials will affect vacuum environment, not suitable for vacuum metalizing.
In addition to natural materials, materials suitable for vacuum electroplating include metal materials, soft and hard plastics (ABS materials, ABS+PC materials, PC materials, etc.), composite materials, ceramics, and glass.
The most commonly used for vacuum metalizing is aluminum, followed by silver and copper.

Design considerations
The equipment used in vacuum metalizing is usually high, and the process flow is complex, and the environment is high. The unit price of vacuum metalizing is more expensive than water plating.
vacuum metalizing is affected by the volume of equipment in vacuum environment, so the size of target material has the certain requirement, not suitable for large target material, common vacuum cavity indoor target should be less than 1.2 * 1.1 m (3.94 * 3.3 ft), 3 d artifacts should be less than 1.2 * 0.5 m (3.94 * 1.6 ft)
The workpiece surface of vacuum metalizing must be dry and smooth, otherwise it will affect the treatment effect.
vacuum metalizing plating color is rich, can be plated seven color, rich than water plating color, can achieve anode aluminum, bright chrome, gold, silver, copper and gun metal (such as a copper tin alloy) of rich and colorful effect. Water plating is generally only copper (red), nickel plated (yellow silver), gold plated, silver plated, gun (black, dark, light black, etc.), chrome (silver white) and other monotonous colors.
vacuum metalizing is the most common metal surface treatment technology.

Process cost
The process of vacuum metalizing process is complicated, and it is very dependent on manual operation. The workpiece (target material) needs spraying, loading and unloading, repainting, and also depends on the complexity and quantity of the workpiece, so the human cost is very high.

Environmental impact
Low radiation and environmental pollution in vacuum environment, vacuum electroplating is widely used in various industries.

Vacuum Metalizing Process

Step: spray a coat of primer on the workpiece before plating. Since the workpiece is a plastic part, the air bubbles and organic gases are retained in the injection molding, and the water is sucked into the air when placed. In addition, because the plastic surface is not smooth, the surface of the direct electroplating is not smooth, the luster is low, the metal feeling is poor, and there will be bubbles, blisters and other bad conditions. After spraying a layer of primer, a smooth and smooth surface is formed, and the bubbles of bubbles in the plastic itself are eliminated, so that the electroplating effect can be displayed.
